NEC Intermediate

NEC-102

This course dives into practice and use of the NEC form of contract. Over one day, delegates will build a contract, work through and apply key processes and procedures, deal with risk and change and consider options for resolving common issues. This course uses interactive discussions and check-in exercises (both individual and group).  

Learning Outcomes

  • Build an NEC form of contract

  • Use the NEC language and terminology

  • Practice using the NEC’s key processes to manage time, money and quality 

  • Manage risk by using Early Warnings and collaboration

  • Control change using Compensation Events 

  • Weigh up options for resolving common delivery issues 

At the completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Feel confident about using the NEC form of contract

  • Explain to others how the contract works

  • Liaise and collaborate with the Project Manager and Supervisor

  • Apply the NEC processes and procedures for managing all aspects of a project 

  • Understand a roadmap for resolving issues and disputes 

  • Know where to go for help 

PREREQUISITE
Working experience of NEC e.g. completion of PMIS NEC-101 Introduction course

Commercial managers, QS, planners/ schedulers, engineers, contract managers, document controllers, plus those wishing to take on the role of NEC Project Manager or Supervisor

TRAINER PROFILE
The course will be delivered by Sarah Schütte, a lawyer who specialises in construction, engineering and infrastructure contracts.
