NEC Introduction

NEC-101

This course provides a complete introduction to the NEC form of contract in one day. Delegates will explore how the contract is put together, and the key processes and procedures for delivery phase, all within interactive discussions and check-in exercises (both individual and group).  

Learning Outcomes

  • Find your way round the structure and contents of the NEC form of contract

  • Familiarise the key terminology used in the NEC form of contract

  • Understand the key processes to manage time, money and quality 

  • Understand how risk is managed via Early Warnings and collaboration

  • Understand how change is controlled via Compensation Events 

  • Understand the options for avoiding and resolving disputes

At the completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Feel confident about the understanding of the fundamental parts of the NEC form of contract

  • Find their way around the contract comfortably 

  • Understand the role and responsibility of the Project Manager and Supervisor

  • Work through the key processes and procedures for managing all aspects of a project 

  • Understand what to do if disputes arise

  • Know where to go for help
